Revelation of Truth: The Milestone College Tragedy and the Betrayal of a Nation.
Wednesday, July 21, 2025
Venue: Milestone School & College, Uttara, Dhaka
Incident: Jet Crash of Bangladesh Air Force F-7 BGI Jet
A tragedy that howled behind a curtain of secrecy
On July 21, 2025, a Bangladesh Air Force F-7 BGI fighter jet, on one of its routine training missions, struck the middle of Milestone School & College in Uttara, Dhaka, causing a disaster that shook the nation. The mystery of the flight disaster ought to have been a blunt tragedy, an aviation accident with unambiguous causes and consequences, but it has developed into a haunting story of buried truth, distorted narratives, and a desperate attempt at gaining some accountability. The government has tried to play down the damage by official statements through state press and military spokesmen, but still the accounts by students, teachers, and eyewitnesses paint a totally different picture of a rooted system malfunction, duress, and a strong cover-up.
Voices Calling out of the Ashes
The testimonies that come out of Milestone College are not only testimonies, but they are also a plea by those who saw the horror with their eyes before others began to take away their lives. College students, employees, and officials have put their well-being in danger to uncover the truth that is in sharp contradiction to the purified version around the official discourse. They contain some heart-rending words to the effect of:
The military invaded the college, taking full control of the site. As the administrators tried to reveal the actual number of dead people, teachers were ruthlessly beaten and gagged, and their calls for transparency were punished with violence.
A high-ranking college administrator who was charged with the responsibility of looking after the welfare of students was threatened, beaten, and arrested by the military forces because he dared to speak publicly against the imposition of information.
With the help of the adaptation of the false information, seemingly in league with the Air Force, the media are publishing-sized lies, blurring the picture of the catastrophe and leaving the citizens in the dark.
The students are left in the debris of the fallen structure with their destinies unknown, even as other rescuers and reporters are not allowed to enter the scene, and they are essentially stranding the truth.
Video evidence has surfaced showing military personnel brutally beating students who attempted to document the chaos, their screams echoing as soldiers struck them to enforce silence.
In another video, reporters interviewing distraught students about the crash were suddenly surrounded by army personnel, who blocked their access, confiscated equipment, and began beating both the journalists and students with ruthless force.
These versions indicate an intentional and coordinated attempt to manipulate the storyline, to hide reality, and to prevent those guilty of wrongdoing from coming under review. The boldness of the latter witnesses is contrasting brightly to the cowardice of those wishing to cover up the truth about this tragedy.
A tragedy that, at least, mismanagement added to
The crash itself was heartbreaking, but the facts that have been disclosed after the crash create an impression of a curse that was worsened by the way the system was functioning:
The pilot, Squadron Leader Tawkir Islam Sagar, survived the first strike but later died of some catastrophic injuries at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH), and his death contributed to the growing numbers of victims of this calamity.
Witnesses participating on the scene state that many students died immediately after the crash, but the official data on the casualties seem to be reduced intentionally, depriving the families of their relatives of the truth.
Families are in tears, yet they are not getting clear explanations, and they are left to deal with this uncertainty and pain as those in authority fail to give the important explanations.
Claims that people were lying about the number of victims and forcing people to have limited access to the area bring serious doubts about the honesty of people that are supposed to serve the society.
It is not just an accident; it is a breach of trust, negligence of obligation, and a blot that throws back on the conscience of a nation.
Accountability-Demanding Questions
What happened at Milestone College is an emergency, inevitably raising questions that call into existence the essence of justice and responsibility:
Why do military personalities hinder the clear efforts of rescue, gag witnesses, use violence, and kill to diminish the truth? What is their secret behind, and on whose insistence?
Why are media houses, which have the mandate of informing people, repeating the news coming out of the office without challenging the blatant differences being relayed by firsthand accounts and recordings of footage?
How can the Bangladesh Air Force be able to use the F-7 BGI jet, which is an outdated relic based on the 1960s Soviet MiG-21 models, as a training jet in 2025? According to one mourning commentator, these airplanes are even older than the dead students. This is not a tragedy; this is a crime of negligence that potentially could have been avoided.
These questions are not rhetorical but a request for some answers, a request that those in authority must answer or pay the price of their deeds or their non-deeds.
A Call to Stand Up
The Milestone College disaster is not only a disaster, but it is a moral disaster, a test of national fidelity to truth, justice, and humanity. We must not be silent because the authorities deny it and because the military tries to intimidate witnesses. We must not passively accept the words of the authorities (denials) as far outweighing the damning evidence captured on video by the victims and the survivors. We are petitioning the following:
To freely investigate through investigative journalism, maintain pluck and dig into the truth at all costs and oppose the official version of the story.
International media to bring a spotlight on this tragedy to give a voice to those who were mentally muted as well as call someone in authority to account for their actions on an international scale.
To keep and spread all those pieces of evidence—messages, videos, photographs, and testimonies—citizens of Bangladesh, as well as other parts of the world, are preserving them to make sure that the truth will not be forgotten under the blankets of uniforms and lies.
It is a turning point of joint action. It is a call to seek justice for the lives that are gone, clarity for the people who are left in crisis, and accountability from those who have not taken up their responsibility to the people. The reality should not be buried in the ruins of Milestone College.
Milestone justice. Right must be upheld. Accountability Now.
